You can’t stop thinking about a life-threatening event. It pops up in the middle of the day. All of a sudden, your heart is pounding, even though you can see you aren’t in any danger. You snap at people without understanding why. You feel numb to the joys you used to experience. You can’t trust anyone, least of all yourself. I’m here to help. Evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure are designed to get you into recovery as quickly as possible. Every once in a while, I hear the unfortunate, INACCURATE myth that PTSD cannot be treated quickly, or can’t be treated with talk therapy. This is absolutely untrue (and certainly unhelpful!)*.
